Sep 12 2007 IR Web Report came up with a list of great online annual report designers - nonfiction made the list! There were a fair amount of submissions: In all, we received 23 submissions from firms in places as diverse as Japan, Sweden and Brazil. Only the small group of firms you see below made the cut.

For the third year in a row, nonfiction's design work was recognized at the Summit awards in Portland, Oregon. We were awarded bronze for both our work on the Calgary Stampede website and our High No*n Stampede party invitations.

nonfiction's objective for the Calgary Crime Stoppers website was to transform their existing site into something that was memorable but simple and straightforward to navigate. It needed to be approachable and not too official looking - it couldn't look like a police website. nonfiction is proud to have been the design sponsor for the ARF calendar again this year. It looks pretty great if we do say so ourselves. The calendar is only $10, it makes a terrific stocking stuffer AND its proceeds support a great cause! What else could you ask for?
The calendar is available at fine pet stores and vet clinics throughout the city.
ARF's mission is to rescue stray and abandoned dogs and cats from First Nations and rural areas and place them in loving, permanent homes while providing programs to reduce pet over-population. The Animal Rescue Foundation is a registered, non-profit charity run by volunteers. Some lucky Calgarians will be receiving an exciting item in their mailboxes in the next few days... nonfiction partnered with The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede to create an illustrated fold-out map that explains some amazing plans that are in the works to transform the Stampede grounds over the next 15 years. We were delighted to be contacted today by the president of the Canadiana Study Unit - a philatelic club whose members collect world wide stamps that have Canadian themes. The group publishes a journal called The Canadian Connection, and their readers have chosen our Ireland/Canada Biospheres stamp as their favourite Canadiana stamp issue of 2005!

Apr 05 2006 We've won an Award of Merit at the Graphex 06 Awards - a biennial competition celebrating excellence in communication design. This year, in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, the judges were specifically seeking stellar design that included a certain "Canadianness." Happily, they thought our Kindersley book fit the bill! Kindersley came about through a collaboration with Gary Campbell Photography.

Jan 15 2006 nonfiction has been working with Canada Post to design a new postage stamp to celebrate the history of mountaineering in Canada. The Alpine Club of Canada's first meeting was in March 1906, in Winnipeg. Today, the group is headquartered at the Canmore Summer Mountaineering Camps. A single domestic-rate commemorative stamp will be released in July 2006, and will pay homage to this group and their contributions to the sport of mountain climbing.

Jan 15 2005 Canada Post has selected nonfiction to design and produce a set of joint issue stamps with Irish Post. nonfiction was responsible for producing stamps to be issued in Canada as well as by An Post in Ireland. The stamps are to commemorate Waterton Lakes National Park and the Killarney National Park (in Ireland) which are both World Biosphere Reserves. The stamp was illustrated by the amazing Jeff Spokes. Check back on April 22 (Earth day) the day of issue for links and more news.

Jun 25 2004 The League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) encourages excellence in the practice of communication for all organizations through out North America and 12 other countries. LACP's goal is to help facilitate discussion of 'best in class' practices in communications and recognize those who demonstrate exemplary communication behaviors. Following consecutive gold awards for the last two years, Agrium's annual report received a platinum award from LACP this year, and achieved seventh place on their list of the top 100 annual reports of 2003. Paramount Resources, Cavell Energy and Canadian Natural's annual reports each received gold awards in their respective categories.

The Summit Creative Awards were created over 10 years ago to celebrate the creative accomplishments of smaller creative companies throughout the world. The awards are open to advertising, public relations, video production, multimedia agencies and other allied firms with annual billings of less than $15 million.

The resulting piece received a merit in the specialty advertising category at AdRodeo 2003, Calgary's celebration of creative excellence.

Paramount's annual report got the nod for best financial statements and analysis in the senior oil and gas category, while CNR won for best-in-class website, also in the senior oil and gas category.
